Mrs. Harmon

Hello! My name is Amy Harmon and I've been in education since 2008. I began my career in public school teaching Kindergarten. I've taught several grades in early childhood and also spent some time teaching online education classes for ICC. I attended NCCC, then after substitute teaching, moved on to College of the Ozarks in Branson. I graduated with my B.S. in Early Childhood Elementary Education in 2007. I married Jake in 2009 and we live in the country with our dog and horses. After getting married, I worked as an aide in Thayer where I grew up. During this time, I began my Master's in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and graduated in 2015.

Mrs. O'Brien

Hi, my name is Stella O’Brien, and I am the Kindergarten teacher at Zion Lutheran School. I live on a farm north of Liberty, Kansas. I am married to Ron O’Brien, and we have three sons: Jay, Aaron, and Cody. Now we enjoy our grandchildren. I enjoy working outside with my family and our farm activities.I received my Bachelors of Science in Education with a math minor from Pittsburg State University in 1988. I then coordinated the Independence SEK-CAP Head Start preschool center for four years. I took a few years off from work to enjoy our children. It was in August of 1998 that I started teaching half time - 7&8 math and science at Zion. In August 2000, I started to teach kindergarten. I continued with my education and obtained an Early Childhood Endorsement and Certificate in December of 2003. In 2009 I was honored with KAIRS - Teacher of the Year honors. I manage a school greenhouse for all students to participate.I am very active with the youth activities at my home church, Liberty United Methodist Church. I teach Sunday morning youth messages, and coordinate vacation bible school. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to work with professionals in the education field at Zion Lutheran School.

Mrs. Achong

Hello my name is Angie Achong I grew up in Independence, KS and attended school at Zion Lutheran from 2nd through 8th grade. After graduating from Pittsburg State with an Elementary Education degree, I taught the 5th and 6th grade class for two years. During those two years, I completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology and School Library Media and also finished the Lutheran Teacher Colloquy. After leaving Zion, my husband served a church in Okeechobee, Florida as the Youth and Family Minister and I taught in the public schools. I was also an Elementary School Librarian in Western Kansas for one year and served as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Ascension Lutheran School in Tucson, AZ for one year. We have eight year old twin girls. While not at school, I enjoy walking, reading, baking, and spending time with my family! What a joy it is to be back at Zion Lutheran School!

Mrs. Clubine

Hello my name is Amy Clubine I am the 3rd and 4th grade teacher at Zion. I grew up in Independence, but moved to Pittsburg to pursue a degree in Education. In May 2003, I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I am married to Jason Clubine and we have two daughters, Sydnee and Adyson, and one son, Owynn.

Mrs. Cook

Arlene Cook is the 5th - 8th grade teacher at Zion Lutheran School. She grew up in Denver, Colorado, but moved to Kansas towards the end of her high school career. She taught at Service Valley Charter Academy before transferring to teach at Zion.She is currently in her 10th year of teaching but 5th at Zion. In May of 2011 she graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor's Degree in early/late childhood K-6. In 2018 she graduated from Concordia University Nebraska with a Masters Degree in literacy with an emphasis as a reading specialist. She also completed 2 year of Tech 21. She is married to Christopher Cook and they have 4 girls and 2 boys, Aliya (2), Lizzy (11), Christina (15), Braden (17), Lexi (18), and Matthew (23).

Mrs. LuPardus

Stacie LuPardus is the Administrative Assistant at Zion Lutheran School and Athletics Director. This is her first year as the Administrative Assistant but has helped in the past 5 years with lunch, Athletic Director, After School Care Program, and the Early Childhood Learning Center. She also is the Zumba instructor at Cornerstone Family Fitness. She graduated from Coffeyville Community College with an Associate's Degree. She has her Substitute Teacher's license from the State of Kansas. Before coming to Zion she ran her own home Business, New Vision Creations with her husband Charles LuPardus. They have 2 boys, Logan (12), and Ty (26). Ty is currently the K-9 Police Unit for the City of Independence.

Mr. Pralle

Eric Pralle teaches 5th-8th grade. He also serves as the principal of Zion Lutheran School. My father was a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Pastor. We moved a lot when I was growing up. I have lived in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Arkansas. I graduated from Concordia University in 1992. My first Call was to First Lutheran School in Fort Smith, Arkansas where I served until 2013. I have been at Zion Lutheran School since that time. I have 28 years experience as an educator, and have served as principal for 15 years of my ministry. I have a BS in Education from Concordia University – Seward, a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Arkansas and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Arkansas. I am married to Liz Pralle, and we have 2 sons Joshua and Ian. It has been my pleasure to serve my Lord as I minister to students and their families

Pastor Peterson

Rev. Kevin M. Peterson is the current pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in the spring of 1999 and was ordained in June of that year. Prior to coming to Zion Lutheran Church, he served for eleven years as pastor of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Salmon, Idaho, and before that for about nine years as the pastor of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Commerce City, Colorado. Prior to entering the seminary, Kevin was a teacher at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School in Holt, Michigan. He is married to Julia (nee Johannes) and they have four children: Faith, Jared, Hope, and Jesse.Email Pastor Peterson



Ms. Frederiksen

I grew up in the small town of Dearing, KS. I attended Dearing school through 5th grade and then transferred to Caney Valley Where I earned my High School Diploma. I then attended ICC where I earned my college degree. I then made my home in Independence. I have two kids, Lucas and Camden. I enjoy coaching sports, watching my kids play sports, being at the lake and hanging out with my kids. I also enjoy photography and have owned a photography studio for 5 years, Memories by Mandy Photography. Mrs. Barriger

Mrs. Barriger grew up South Coffeyville. After graduation she moved to Pittsburgh, Ks where she married and had 2 children. She and Josh have been married for 15 years. Following a job change she moved to Independence. Her family attend New Vision church in Coffeyville. Mrs. Barriger has been with Zion Lutheran School since the fall of 2019.

Mr. Camacho

Mr. Camacho grew up in Independence and earned an excellent reputation as a wrestler, soccer, and baseball player at Independence High School. He played college soccer and graduated in May, 2011 from Kansas University. Mr. Camacho will be on our campus in the afternoons and will teach freshman health and P.E. at Independence High School in the mornings.
