Love and Logic Tips

Zion Lutheran School implements the Love and Logic philosophy in the classrooms and school.  We have established the following core beliefs for our classrooms:

"Love and Logic is a philosophy of raising and teaching children which allows adults to be happier, empowered, and more skilled in the interactions with children. Love allows children to grow through their mistakes. Logic allows children to live with the consequences of their choices. Love and Logic is a way of working with children that puts parents and teachers back in control, teaches children to be responsible, and prepares young people to live in the real world, with its many choices and consequences."

1. Every attempt will be made to maintain the dignity and self respect of both the student and the teacher.

2. Students will be given opportunities to make decisions and live with the consequences, be they good or bad.

3. Students will be guided and expected to solve their problems, or the problems they create, without creating problems for anyone else.

4. Misbehavior will be handled with natural or logical consequences, be they good or bad.

5. Misbehavior will be viewed as an opportunity for individual problem solving and preparation for the real world.
