  • God is Faithful and Blesses Zion Lutheran School On Sunday, January 8, Zion Lutheran School was presented with a check for $300,000.00 by Faithcare's Board of Education.  This gift was the result of a vision of a Lutheran couple, Mr. and Mrs. George Lange, who bequeathed their home and farm with the intention of building a Lutheran nursing home.  This became seed money to purchase an existing nursing home which was renamed the Manor Nursing home; located on South Eighth Street in Independence, KS and run by Southeast Kansas Lutherans.  Southeast Kansas Lutherans became Faithcare, Inc.  With the recent sale of the nursing home to Americare, the Board of Faithcare has taken action to dissolve Faithcare, Inc. and to distribute remaining assets in accord with ...

Our Mission Statement

Zion Lutheran School provides
quality Christ-Centered education to equip students to serve others and to proclaim Jesus Christ in their families, community, and world.

A Christ-centered Education

A Christ-centered education...

The philosophy of Christian education comes from the Bible. "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."  Proverbs 22:6.

To help parents provide a Christian education for their children, Zion Lutheran Church maintains a Christian Day School. Our Christian education program includes religious lessons, devotions, and worship experiences. It is the all-day Christian setting that gives the children the opportunity to practice their Christianity while developing thinking and academic skills, knowledge, and communication tools.

In addition to growing in the faith, our students excel in many areas.

  • 85% of our alumni who graduated for high school last year were Academic Letter winners and members of the National Honor Society.  Many of them were straight-A students.
  • 90% of our students scored at proficient or above on the Kansas Reading Assessments.
  • 93% of our students scored at proficient or above on the Kansas Math Assessments.
  • Zion Lutheran School is the President's Challenge Fitness Award State of Kansas Champion
  • Zion Lutheran School is the Fuel Up to Play 60 State Champion

At Zion Lutheran School, Christ is the center of all that we do. We pray that God will continue to strengthen and preserve this Christ-centered approach to education.
